Suncroft Lodge Nursing Home In caring for the residents there were a number of routines I carried out daily for them. When I started my shift I took part in a handover from the staff who were finishing their shift . During meal time and tea time I handed out meals and assisted the residents if and when needed with feeding. I assisted the residents if and when needed with toileting. This sometimes involved a full hoist or a standing hoist. I have been trained for changing catheter bags for residents. I often escorted residents from the nursing home to hospital appointments. I have completed a manual handling course which trained me how to appropriately reposition residents when necessary using the appropriate movements. As well as caring for the physical and medical needs of the residents, I also cared for them emotionally. The residents enjoyed having their nails done, their makeup and their hair. I also took part n exercises, music and bingo classes with the residents to ensure they got the most enjoyment from these activities. I worked in a convalescent and post operative rehabilitation care unit. Although many of the duties I carried out in this unit are similar to the residents nursing home, there are some differences.
